Puerto del Carmen, Canary Islands

Set just 100 metres from Matagorda Beach on the holiday island of Lanzarote and a short drive from lively Puerto del Carmen and the island’s international airport, Club Nautilus is a pretty, small timeshare resort with nearly 70 timeshare apartments, more than half of which are adapted for guests with limited mobility.

Among the accommodation are one- and two-bedroom apartments, one of which is named ‘Home of the Artist’ and is designed as a holiday home for artists. There is also a private villa, and all paths throughout the resort offer disabled persons’ access. The timeshare apartments are grouped around a heated swimming pool with its own hydraulic chair, and a second pool is provided.

Facilities at Club Nautilus include a lounge and breakfast bar, massage treatment area, a mini-golf course and pretty gardens spread over 12,000 square metres. The timeshare apartments themselves feature attractive artworks by local artists, plenty of storage space for clothes and suitcases, private terraces with loungers and views across the pool, and the private, three-bedroom villa sleeps up to six guests.

Matagorda is known as the quieter, more tasteful suburb of Playa del Carmen’s nightlife hub, offering the best of two contrasting worlds to its guests. Lanzarote’s famous Aquapark is nearby, along with other family attractions such as the Texas Ranch theme park with its Western Night and North American animals and reptiles, and a visit to the volcanic island’s Timanfaya National Park with its caves, lava tunnels, geysers and volcanic peaks shows nature in the raw.
